This week, the Xbox One releases. And while you fancypants early adopters are making weird faces at zoo animals, I’ll be playing my Jewish adventure game about suffering.
1. Shivah: Kosher Edition Launches Thursday!
Play as a rabbi who lacks the funds to keep his synagogue open. Embrace his inner conflict as he doubts himself, God, and the kindness of others. Am I weird for thinking this sounds like Game of the Year material?
2. PS4 Sells A Ton, Disappoints A Few
Last week, a million PS4s sold in the first 24 hours of launch despite a “distinct lack of compelling software.” Less than half a percent of users experienced the “blue light of death,” leading to wild internet lamentations blown out of proportion.
3. Anita Sarkeesian Ruffles More Feathers, This time About Superficial Gender Markers
Remember Claire from Thomas Was Alone? She was the only rectangle who saw herself as a super hero. She was much unlike videogame females who are just male characters with a bow and lipstick. Miss Sarkeesian’s latest video is sure to spawn heated debates among our ranks like she has before. But as always, you can be sure that discussion will be seasoned with love.
4. Kickstart The Iranian Revolution
1979 Revolution takes us back to the Iranian Revolution. The designer, Navid Khonsari, (who was there) has been branded a spy by his homeland for making this game. This young woman hopes to play the game with her dad who was also there. As somebody who was not there but loves Persian culture and history, it didn’t take me long to back this on Kickstarter.
5. Jesse Pinkman Stars as Fast & Furious Dude In Need For Speed Movie
Depending on how much you love carsplosions, this may be one of those rare instances where the movie is better than the game. We’ll find out March 14th when Need For Speed hits theaters.
