Monday Update – A Smattering

And the reason why I call it a smattering is because I have many things to say about many different things, and therefore it fits under the definition of “smattering”, more or less. Let’s get to it!

World of WarCraft – So, I am back into the thick of being a guild member on a guild that actually does stuff. Jacob Toman of GoodGuyGaming (more coloquially known as G3) invited me to play with the guild on Aggramar, and now they have made a tiny gnome man into a guild officer. They known not the forces they prodded into joining! TEENSYTANK WILL CONQUER ALL!

Seriously, though, I’ve really enjoyed being part of a guild environment for the first time in many years. There’s something about that kind of social interaction that gets people hooked onto the game, and on this point I’m no different. Getting to play my favorite class (Warrior, duh) is just icing on the cake, really. And before I forget…

GoodGuyGaming is looking for members! We’re a guild for all levels, casual or hardcore! We’re also looking for members to fill out a core raiding team. PST Teensytank or Tensonn for invites and additional details!

So if you happen to play on Aggramar, please play with us!

Hearthstone – Here is my eternal question playing Hearthstone: do I play purely for fun, using whatever interesting yet completely not viable cards because their affects are fun? Or do I simply adopt The Way of the Metagame, shifting to its (sometimes) really boring shifts into decks that demonstrate extraordinary versatility in dealing with any and all challengers?

That, I think, demonstrates a very big, and very interesting, problem in Hearthstone: the game does not hold enough cards yet to make for a truly diverse, exciting metagame. Most people just netdeck and play the Popular Deck of the Week, and I never feel that shows the true potential of seemingly bad cards (as with big old Deathwing up there, what with his horrible cost in both mana and board clears for all!). Perhaps more cards will highlight the emerging possibilites of “bad” cards, but in the current environment we won’t see it, even with Blackrock Mountain.

It should be noted that I rarely, if ever, can settle on much of anything when it comes to games like this. I am overwhelmed by the fun deck-making possibilities, and not so much the winning in every instance. Given the elements of randomness inherent to the game style, I accept I will lose often in my attempts to refine and understanding what kind of decks I just created. Honestly, I don’t feel bad for losing; I just consider it a learning experience for next time, and an opportunity to refine what didn’t work the previous time.

In sum, I am a TImmy, and I want to play big creatures to plop down onto the board at any and every opportunity. Oh well!

Theology Gaming Streaming – And while we’re at this disjointed, horrible post,  I’m curious: would you guys and gals watch streamed content?

I’m curious, because there are a lot of things I could say about games while playing them (just like everyone else on the Internet), and I figure it could provide for some fun moments where I die horribly at something, or play very badly.

Game recommendations, suggestions of all kinds, and the like are welcome!
